9 Frame Definitely Maybe- Bethany Thomas

1.       Text Box: 3Text Box: 6Text Box: 9Text Box: 8Text Box: 7Text Box: 5Text Box: 4Text Box: 2Text Box: 1

1.The first frame shows the production company and also has its own theme music to go with it so even without looking at the screen; we can hear that the movie is produced by a well-known company so we assume that this film will be well-done.
2. Frame two shows a close up of an envelope which is titled with the main characters name on, the envelope and the stamp tells us the formality and importance of the situation. This envelope is useful to the film as we find out a few things about the character within the first 39 seconds.

3. The third frame shows a medium shot of the character, with this we can see his reaction to the letter and we can also see his surroundings. The medium shot shows that Will is in a tall office building that looks quite expensive, this gives us the impression that Will has quite an important job and gets paid a fair amount because of the place that he works in. we can also see that Will has a shirt and tie on and looks formally dressed for work, this is another hint that his job has good pay and standards.

4. This is a close up of the character which shows us his reaction to the letter. The reaction shot could tell us that he is not overly thrilled to see the letter that is addressed to him and has he begins to read it he’s face drops further.

5. The next shot is a close up of what Will is reading and from this close up we can see that it is a divorce paper for will and what we can assume is his ex-wife.

6. This shot shows another production company called ‘a working title’

7. This shot is a medium close up of Will in his office, we can see from this shot a Quakers advertisement which tells us that his work has something to do with this big company. We can see also that he’s desk is cluttered; this could indicate that his life is also messed up a bit just like his desk. The desk can portray the characters emotions and show us how he may be feeling.

 8. Shot 8 is a shot of another character walking into Wills office. We can see behind her there is a big room with lots of desks so the fact that Will has his own big office shows that he has authority.

9. Frame 9 is a reaction shot of what the lady in screen 8 said, he looks like he is putting on a fake smile even though what she has said is good news. This is telling us that Will is having a really bad day and nothing can make him feel better.
